The Mansion House- Baguio City

A perfect spot for postcard pictorial- The Mansion House. A resemblance of the famous Buckingham Palace in London England. It is the summer house of the President of the Philippines.

The Mansion House is located right across the quadrilateral shallow pool of the Wright Park. It is much older than the city itself which was built in 1908 and utilized as rest house of the American Governor Generals. The original structure was destroyed during World War II, thus the house was rebuilt in 1947. Since then up to now, this house has been used by various Presidents.

Tourists can take photos outside the gate, or even can enter a little past the gate when the President is not residing. You can also buy a souvenir shirt by secretly asking the guard. He sells shirt with a logo on it (check out my sis' shirt).

Mines View in Baguio City!

A perfect site to witness the spectacular and breathtaking view of Benguet’s gold and copper mines. Mines View Park offers an overwhelming nature encounter as you see valleys and landscapes surrounding you. A sunny day will give you a vivid view of the valleys thus don’t miss renting some of the binoculars in the view deck for you to clearly see it. It will just cost a few pennies. More often the area is foggy thus the the scenery is obscured. So grab those cameras and enjoy while it is still majestically seen!

Here is my list of MUST DOS when you get a chance to pass by Mines View Park:

1)The park is really congested with booths which will make your tour much pleasurable. One of the great booths is a photoshoot section where you can have a shot on cuddly St. Bernard dogs… I took a shot with a dog named Doglas and he was really cute in our photo… ^___^ The 3 shots will cost you 50.00.

2)Another booth you will surely enjoy is a HENNA tattoo section. Choose a tattoo design which matches your Baguio feeling and flaunt it like you look so hot. Hahaha…

3)You can also enjoy a photoshoot with Baguio’s known costumes for Igorots. Rent some clothes and headdresses and internalize the Baguio look. I did enjoy my costume… You can really get nude and rent what they call the “bahag” which covers only your private part.. X_X Costume rent is worth 10.00

4)You can also hop on in some of their cool horses and pose as if you are a horse magnet or something… just be careful as you climb up. And be mindful of your shot cause each click is worth 10.00…. One thing I have observed is that the owner will let you borrow their hat so that you will take another shot and will pay another 10.00. shhhaaadddyyy~

5)Rent some Binoculars in the Observation Deck and enjoy a vivid view of the Valleys… Or just sit back and relax on scattered benches…

SAFETY REMINDER:
*** Be careful that you don’t slip, the stone-made stairway is often wet.

Wright Park- Baguio City

Tour the breathtaking scenery of tall pine trees. Chill with your family at the end part of the park where you can see the huge triangular pool known as the “Pool of Pines” which is lined with enhancing street lamps. In the end part of the pool is a good vision of the Mansion. Wright Park is a definite place for a walk and long chitchats!

UNFORTUNATELY, I was not able to capture a picture in here. :(

You can also rent a pony in an agreed hourly cost. A guide will accompany you in your tour.

I never had the chance to ride my own pony that time since my sister was in a hurry. If given enough time, I would really love to select my own pony from their wide array of options that are for rent. They allow renters to bring along the pony up to the Mines View Park. If you don’t want to ride a pony, but want a picture with it, then they also have a booth where you can take a shot of a cute pony. Prepare 10.00 per shot though.

Lourdes Grotto- Baguio City

If you want to experience a religious encounter in Baguio City then have a quick stopover in Lourdes Grotto. The perfect place for solemn prayer and meditation especially during Holy Week. By climbing 252 steps, you will reach the image of Our Lady of Lourdes which commemorates the visions of the Virgin Mary by a child from France in 1858. Devotees usually light a candle and pray upon reaching the topmost part where the altar of Our Lady of Lourdes is placed.

I am not a catholic, but I really appreciated the experience. The 252 steps to overcome before you can say your prayer made every word in your prayer meaningful.

Strawberry Farm- Baguio City

Baguio City is known in the Philippines as the focal area where lovely strawberries can be harvested. Thus, it should be part of any visitor's itinerary to try the strawberry picking activity in La Trinidad, Benguet which is 30 minutes away from Baguio.

Undertaking the strawberry picking will add on to the fun experience you will have in your Baguio visit. The price for it varies, but usually it costs twice the regular price of the strawberries. The rate is much higher since a lot of strawberries are wasted once amateurs will be the ones harvesting them. The mark up is usually allotted to the ruined strawberries in the activity. Just prepare around Php 200-300 for it.

Here are my list of MUST DOS when you include this place in your itinerary:

First of all, you MUSSSTT try the strawberry picking activity. Your whole family will definitely love the experience! I tried it myself @ noon time..it was hot in Baguio but the experience is worthwhile... Eating your handpicked strawberry is a heavenly experience. LOL.

Buy more strawberries from the vendors... A box usually costs 70.00. Take more strawberries with you and share it with your friends back home.

IT IS ALSO A MUST that you try the strawberry flavored taho... just ask the mananaho that passes by.

Missed out buying Baguio souvenir items?? Then worry no more, a number of vendors sell a variety of Baguio souvenirs. Take out that name list... hehehe..
